In 2013, she helped facilitate the creation of a victim’s service alliance and later merger between The Austin Children Shelter and SafePlace - the Lift Alliance.

Throughout Sandy’s career, she enjoyed mentoring and coaching her management teams and employees to achieve their career aspirations and become more effective and inspiring leaders.  In 2010 she founded BIG (Building Independent Girls), a STEM education consulting company, to help young women understand and utilize their strengths to their advantage, ultimately building successful career plans.

Sandy was elected Mayor of the City of Lakeway in 2018. In a short amount of time, she has rebuilt the pipeline of volunteers to better represent the current Lakeway demographics, opened up and enhanced the communication with the residents, empowered the committees & commissions to be the voice of the community, started the work to revamp the 20 year Comprehensive Plan, and is working on a multi-faceted transportation plan to improve the safety and connectivity in our area.
